Kalkan

Kalkan is a small peaceful, picturesque Mediterranean fishing town situated on the beautiful Turquoise Coast of Turkey between Fethiye and Kas.

The town curls snugly around an ancient harbour sheltering at the foot of the Taurus Mountains and looks out over a beautiful bay in which islands seem to magically float upon a shimmering sea.

At the heart of Kalkan is the Old Town; a maze of pretty small cobbled streets winding down to the harbour.  They are overflowing with old Greek and Turkish whitewashed houses covered in bougainvillea which cascades from their balconies down into the streets below.

The locals are friendly people and are eager to make your holiday a special one.  Nothing seems to be too much trouble!

They are very proud of their historic, quaint village and they ensure that the strict building regulations are adhered to.  Building in the summer months is strictly forbidden and no swimming pools are allowed within the old village.   Kalkan therefore continues to retain much of its historical texture and distinctive Greek architecture.

Although tourism now forms the major part of its economy Kalkan has not been touched by mass tourism, it appeals to travellers looking for a more sophisticated holiday than ‘sea and sand’.

The Apartment

The apartment is situated just above Kalkan, the centre of which is just ten minutes walk away.  It is in a small private gated complex in an elevated position at the foot of the Taurus Mountains.  Set amidst beautiful terraced gardens of Bougainvillea, it has uninterrupted and spectacular views over the gardens and swimming pool to Kalkan Bay and the Mediterranean Sea beyond.

It comprises an open-plan kitchen and lounge, which opens out onto a veranda, and two bedrooms; a double and a twin.  All rooms have direct access to the gardens and pool, which is shared with the apartment above. The apartment is fully air conditioned.

The apartment is set in a peaceful, quality position that would make it and an ideal base for couples and families alike.  However due to its location it may be unsuitable for young children and persons of limited mobility.
